Nathan Fake, Hypercube

Nathan Fake is just out here doing it his way. No big campaign, no press cycle gymnastics. Just a new track, 'Hypercube', out March 28th on his own Cambria Instruments, and it's doing exactly what he does best: keeping you on your toes.

This one's a stubborn little beast. It's got that signature Nathan Fake DNA, glitchy, emotive, perpetually restless, but the magic is in the build. The track sets up a pattern, teases you into thinking it's about to drop, then yanks the rug out. It's doing that thing where it doesn't resolve when you expect it to, keeps pushing the tension out another 8 bars each time. By the time it finally lets go, you've been hanging off the edge for so long that the release feels almost euphoric.

There's something quietly admirable about an artist this deep into the game still just quietly putting stuff out because he wants to, not because anyone's asking. Cambria Instruments has been his home for this solo material, a little sanctuary for his more unconventional impulses, and 'Hypercube' slots right in. It's not trying to be a festival anthem. It's not trying to be your Sunday morning chillout. It's just a beautifully restless piece of electronic music from a guy who's been doing it his way for decades and isn't about to stop.
